Be STILL and know I am God

Maplewood RS Newsletter

As we enter the month of September, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life—our responsibilities, challenges, and the constant noise around us. Yet, in the midst of it all, there is a powerful invitation: Be still and know that I am God. This simple yet profound reminder calls us to pause, reflect, and trust in God's presence. It is in stillness that we find peace, guidance, and the reassurance that we are never alone, no matter how overwhelming life may seem. Let’s take this time to quiet our hearts and remember who is truly in control.

Elder Bednar tells us in his talk titled “Be Still and Know I Am God” that being still doesn’t just entail being quiet and not moving. He says this:

I believe the Lord’s admonition to “be still” entails much more than simply not talking or not moving. Perhaps His intent is for us to remember and rely upon Him and His power “at all times and in all things, and in all places that [we] may be in.” Thus, “be still” may be a way of reminding us to focus upon the Savior unfailingly as the ultimate source of the spiritual stillness of the soul that strengthens us to do and overcome hard things.

In our come follow me lesson this week there is so many examples of when the people REMEMBER Christ but also examples of when the people forget Christ and become prideful. We can skip the pride cycle by simply REMEMBERING our Savior in all things!
